The new (1.08) version still doesn't work right.
Game freeze very often at the start of speach.
My current settings:

I've checked VP before the release, and it worked perfectly here... I used the "Mode 2: SpuAsync", though (and of course the "SPU IRQ - wait for cpu action" needs to be active).

nothing special.. activate everything, but of course not the epsxe spu irq hack.

Looks like the trick is the 'Mode' should be 2 and 'SPU IRQ - wait for CPU action' checked.
ePSXe enable SPU IRQ hack - is also should be on.

At least, as soon as I change any of that three settings - game stuck during 'soul recruiting' scenes when some character begin to speak.
