See that's what I thought too, and the flicker-fix works, but I have to set it around 75 for the flickering to go away. Here's what it looks like:

Ah well, I'm happy just having the resolution to play at. If you wanna take a look at my settings though, here they are:

Plugin: Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.8

GFX card: RADEON X1600 Series x86/MMX/3DNow!/SSE

Resolution/Color:
- 1280x960 Fullscreen - NO desktop changing
- Internal X resolution: 2
- Internal Y resolution: 2
- Keep psx aspect ratio: off
- No render-to-texture:

- Filtering: 4
- Hi-Res textures: 0
- TexWin pixel shader: on
- VRam size: 256 MBytes

Framerate:
- FPS limitation: on
- Frame skipping: off
- FPS limit: 60.0

Compatibility:
- Offscreen drawing: 1
- Framebuffer effects: 2
- Framebuffer uploads: 2

Misc:
- Scanlines: off
- Mdec filter: off
- Screen filtering: off

mmm... is this happening with all games, or just FF9? If that's happening with all games, it is indeed a driver bug, I guess.

It indeed happens with all games, only does it when I go use the Very High X resolution.

Aww, come on ATI! :P

Did you try all of the renderers? It would only work for me with the "Use framebuffer Object" render mode.

Either way, it looks like they're at least getting somewhat closer to fixing the issue, which is good. I wonder if the 6.4 Omegas will work better when they're released.

Yes tried all of the rendering modes
0 render to p buffer texture: gives a buffer error,
1 render to p buffer copy to texture: white screen
2 use frame buffer object: grey screen

Oh and I can use all 3 of those renders If I have Internal X resolution set to 1 high but render0 gives a buffer error and render1 and 2 give a white or grey screen when X resolution is set to very high

I've sent a bug report to ATI twice about the issue, but i've had no reply. Here's hoping they are aware of this.

That's good, I hope someone at ATI sees the report.

Does the Ultra High Y Resolution work for you at all, CareraGT? If I set the Y Resolution to Ultra High and the X Resolution to High, I could play fine without any glitches. It just seems to be the Very High X Resolution that the drivers are having problems with.

and if you set the Y resolution to some low value, can you then use the ultra high X without glitches?
