East Timor was internationally recognized as an independent state on the 20th May 2002.Tn late april2006,internal tensions threatened the whole nation's security when a military strike led to violence and break down of law in Dili.At a request of the government of Timor-Leste,an Australian-led internationalstabilization force (ISF) deployed Timor-Leste (UNMIT),which included an authorized police presence of over 1600 personnel.Later on,most of the ISF forces were replaced by UN police officers.In july 2007,the government held presential elections in a peaceful atmoshpere with support of international donors and UNMIT.
Costa Rica condemns the February 11th attack on the Timorese presendent and prime minister.
Costa ricca would recommend more corporation from international donors and othe many financial institutins like world bank to provide necessary aids for the peoples of Timor-Leste.Ans calls on all involved parties to work together for reducing the instability and internal tensions in the country.
