Nabend, Jem: -approaches adolescence during the story (nicht day) -milder tempered than Scout -develops a sense of responsibility Scout: -prefers boyish activities -Atticus: "You have to wear someone's skin to understand that person's point of view" -she has got an unprejudiced mind Atticus: -a man of reason and courage -strong believe in the equality of men and law -criticism from sister (way he brings Jem and Scout up) -his fault: great faith in people's goodness (example: lynch mob, Bob Ewell) Boo: -figure of fear, arrested for stealing a car -community exaggerates his activities ("eat raw cats", "responsible for death of flowers") -leaves Jem and Scout gifts (trousers, blanket, chewing gum) -Ms. Crawford: "He is a gentle, quiet shy man" Calpurnia: -intelligent woman -leads a double-life (chapter 12, "the way she talks") Tom Robinson: -cripple (left hand/arm) -hardworking family man -didn't rape Mayella Ewell -got killed during escape (17 hits) 1. Courage: -different kinds of courage during the story: basic courage (to overcome childish fears, the Radley-house), physical courage (Atticus facing the mad-dog), courage to carry on (Mrs. Dubose's death, Atticus defending Tom Robinson) -Bob Ewell is totally without courage (Chapters: 10, 11, 16, 20, 24) 2. Family: -every family is on a particular scale (Chapters: 1, 2, 9, 13, 21, 23, 24, 27) Justice: (3, 16, 17) Prejudice: (5, 9, 12, 16, 17, 18, 20, 24, 25, 26) Mockingbird: -Miss Maudie: "It's a sin to kill a Mockingbird!" -like the mockingbird, Tom and Boo should be proteced and cared for; they both are easy victims and unable to defend theirselfs -mockingbird: link to justice and childhood: Justice got killed by the jury through prejudices; childhood dies when the children realise that the adult world is often an cruel and unjust place (Chapters: 10, 16, 19, 21, 25, 30) Ich hoffe, das das alles stimmt, was hier steht, müsste es aber. Übernehmt die Stichworte nicht 1:1, grammatikalisch sind einige wahrscheinlich nicht im korrekten Englisch bzw. in Umgangssprache geschrieben ("got killed", "got shot" etc.). Falls irgendwas unklar sein sollte: MSN oder Handy, werd' heute Abend nochmal ins Forum schauen (könnte spät werden, hab morgen ja zur 4. glaube ich:wacky  .
