Hi to everyone,
I'm new to this forum. I've just started using Guidemaster and I can tell that my first impression was very good (and now comes the 'but'). To be honest I've started using it because of its drift alignment feature. Not that I couldn't do it by hand, but I thought, hey it makes my life easier and which is more important: I can shorten the process and do it more precisely. To be honest my first try was a nightmare and gave it up after a few tries. Then I saw here on the forum that others are also complaining. I myself being active in informatics I know and understand that there is no sw on the market w/o a bug. My only question is when do you think you will be ready with the fix?
I have an other question. I have a Philips ToUCam attached to my guider scope and during a night's photo session Guidemaster freezes two-three times and downloads no frames from the camera. As the program does not say a word about it you can not realize it only if you have the Guidemaster window in front of you. If it's in the background then no chance to see it. I can come out of this problem only by killing Guidemaster (with the taskmanager) and detach (then re-attach) the USB cable of the webcam. Do you have any idea what on earth is that? Is it a windows driver freezup or may the problem be on your side? If it's a windows problem could you build in some kind of safety mechanism which rings the bell if no frames could be downloaded from the webcam?
A last one: is there a list available to the public about the features in the next planned versions?

Hello Joseph,
1) I'm very sorry to hear you have problem with this feature, I know it's very complicated, but I'm using this feature and for me it works fine. Maybe you can tell me, which type of problem you have, or you can come up with some proposals to improve this feature.
2) I'm also using a TOUCam and I have no crashes. It's very difficult to figure out, why this happens.
I know that there can be some driver problems or some problems with the USB connection or cable.
Best regards,
Matthias

1) One problem can be the lack of a docu. I've read what was available and I might have misundertood something. Having a good docu would be great (and I really mean that all these great features you've built in and such a great program cries for an equaly good docu, otherwise we can't utilize from them).
2) Yes I know that such kind of freezes are very difficult to track down, though not impossible. If you would make an alert (call it what you want, you can also write it into a logfile) when no frames are comming from the webcam then we could say that the problem comes from the driver and not from your side.
Please keep up with the development, because Guidemaster is absolutelly superior, but please also try to document all the coded features in real details. I love to know about the details, internals because these infos help to be a 'real' user of a sw.
Thanks for your quick response.
