http://bbs.emu-zone.org/showthread.php?t=363213 I believe this is shad's shader that he posted int his tread, pretty close but def some diferences, i sorta like megaman's better because i see a non anime shade, and an anime type solid cell shader, id rather just have it look animeish.

Still, cool shader shad.

OK, here's the scoop... I finally heard back from Maruke, and he's OK with me releasing my shader (based on his CComic shader to begin with).

I've made a couple more changes since the last screenshot update. The Shader Level setting now affects the "strength" of the colorAdjust function instead of the brightness applied before adjustments. Currently, I think a shader level of 2 is a good place to start out, and then experiment from there, depending on the game, as level 4 seems maybe a little too harsh in most cases (unless it's the look you're going for).

The shader now takes into consideration the original colors moreso, and blends with the adjusted color and surrounding pixels to help smooth out the edges a little.

It's not been optimized at all yet, and I'm not sure I know enough at the moment to really do so to any major degree. Running on an AthlonXP 3200+, with a GeForce 6600, I keep pretty much full speed at 640x480 (High X/Very High Y). It'll drop some frames during some framebuffer effects though here and there.

Check the first post of the thread to get the code for the SLV/SLF files.

Made a few changes in the shader code (new version updated on the first post).

Simplified the calculations a bit for the colorAdjust function, since this is a little easier to manage, and gets about the same results as the shader level 2 or 3 on the old version with shader level 4 now.

FYI, I used the shader posted at the start of this thread with SDLMAME (yes, I'm adding the ability to use "Pete GLSL shader programs", so all you shader devs will have 6,000 more games to try out).

Anyway, on some newer games the results are striking and even beautiful. You can see a few at http://rbelmont.mameworld.info/?p=124

Thanks to MegaManJuno and Maruke for their great work!

That's pretty cool. Thanks for the link.

I've been on vacation for the past week, but I have a new version I was playing around with before I left, so there may be an update soon...

By the way, in case you weren't aware, there's a newer version in my 4-in-1 thread (http://www.razyboard.com/system/thread- … 31147.html) than the one in this thread. I've left this one up since it's a little different, but due to the changes in the code with the newer version, I'm not working on this version any longer. The other 4-in-1 thread is where the new update will be posted to once I've had a chance to sit back down with it (possibly this coming weekend).

I'd like to see some results with the 4-in-1 version currently posted in the other thread as well to get some comparisons, if you're up to it.
