Waltzing Matilda ist Australiens bekanntestes Volkslied. Der US-Sänger Tom Waits hat das Lied mit eigenen Texten in Tom Traubert's Blues (Four Sheets To The Wind In Kopenhagen) kombiniert. Rod Stewart griff diese Version auf und machte daraus einen Welthit. In der Version von Waits/Stewart hat der Refrain Waltzing Mathilda allerdings eine andere Bedeutung als im Original.
