A True Friend

Is one who understands where you have been,
accepts who you have become
and loves you unconditionally as you are.
She does not wish you luck as you step out into the unknown...
she walks into the void by your side.
She will not offer distractions
nor easy advice in your time of need...
instead she will pray for wisdom, born of compassion
and a willingness to take your pain upon herself.

Such a friend will always speak of you when you are not present,
as though you were,
and though she may not always share your sunny days,
she will always be there to help you through the stormy ones.
She is not skeptical of your blooming,
nor jealous of your shining apart from her,
for she seeks not to steal your joy,
but to multiply it.

It has been well said that there is no greater
love than this...
for a true friend does not take life from you,
she gives you her own.

Friendship Means...
You know you have a friend for life when they answer the phone at one in the morning because you can't sleep and have a lot on your mind, and they don't mind talking about nothing to get your mind off everything.
They spare some time to spend with you.
When you know that if something bad happened to you they'd be there for you, no questions asked.
When you can look at them when some thing is wrong and they know it just by the look in their eyes and all they have to do is offer a hug and you feel a thousand times better.
When you know that they'd never lie to you, and would never hurt you and if they did it would only be for your betterment.
They can make you laugh when skies are the darkest, and they're there with a good movie and some popcorn when you're totally depressed.
And even if you're a thousand miles apart, it doesn't matter because what you share with this friend is so much deeper then what lies on top that distance plays no role in your friendship.
Friendship is when they push when you need it, but never too hard; and stand back when the time is right but never to far.
And the true test of friendship is if you're willing to do it all back in a heartbeat.
When you're life is so much better because you know them, and they bring out the best that lies within.

Simple v Real Friendship

A simple friend identifies himself when he calls.
A real friend doesn't have to.
A simple friend opens a conversation with a full news bulletin on his life.
A real friend says, "What's new with you?"
A simple friend thinks the problems you whine about are recent.
A real friend says, "You've been whining about the same thing for 14 years. Get off your duff and do something about it."
A simple friend has never seen you cry.
A real friend has shoulders soggy from your tears.
A simple friend doesn't know your parents' first names.
A real friend has their phone numbers in his address book.
A simple friend brings a bottle of wine to your party.
A real friend comes early to help you cook and stays late to help you clean.
A simple friend hates it when you call after he has gone to bed.
A real friend asks you why you took so long to call.
A simple friend seeks to talk with you about your problems.
A real friend seeks to help you with your problems.
A simple friend wonders about your romantic history.
A real friend could blackmail you with it.
A simple friend, when visiting, acts like a guest.
A real friend opens your refrigerator and helps himself.
A simple friend thinks the friendship is over when you have an argument.
A real friend knows that it's not a friendship until after you've had a fight.
A simple friend expects you to always be there for them.
A real friend expects to always be there for you!

Ich wollte mich bei den jüngeren Mitgliedern entschuldigen, dass so viel englisch ist, aber sowas findet man auf deutschen Seiten nicht so oft wie auf englischen. Aber ich werde bestimmt noch was deutsches posten.

Friendship is a strange thing ...

We find ourselves telling each other the deepest details of our lives.
Things we don't even share with our families. But what is a friend?
A confidant? A shoulder to cry on? An ear to listen? A heart to feel?

A friend is all of these things and more. No matter where we met,
no matter how long we've been together ... I call you a friend.
A word so small, yet so large in feeling, a word filled with emotion,
a word overflowing with love.

Truly great things come in small packages. Once the package of friendship
has been opened, it can never be closed. It is a constant book always
waiting to be read ... and enjoyed. Friendship is a unique bond
that lasts through all tribulations. A part of each of us goes into our
friendships, our humor, our experiences, our tears. Friendships are
foundations necessary for life and love. Friends like you and me. You
brought another friend and then there were three. We started our
group, our circle of friends. There is no beginning ... there is no end.

Even though I don't speak to you all everyday ... or even as often as I would
like to, you have all crossed my path of life in one way or another, some
of you I've only bumped int, some have walked a while with me, and some
of you will continue to walk with me, but DON'T EVER THINK FOR A SECOND
that since we aren't in constant contact ... that I don't think of you
all. Because if it wasn't for me coming across all of YOU... who knows? I
would a be a completely different person ... and ... well ...
I'm happy with how I've turned out so far. Thank you.

Eine wie du

Eine, die mir zuhört, ohne Vorurteile,
eine, die mit mir redet,
egal worüber auch immer,
eine, die mir hilft,
ohne zu fragen,
warum und weshalb,
eine, die mich
und meine Entscheidungen akzeptiert,
eine, die immer für mich da ist,
und mich versteht-
so eine bist du!

Viele sagen
ein wahrer Freund ist ein Mensch,
der da ist wenn Du in Not bist;
der Dir hilft wenn's Dir schlecht geht;
der Dich tröstet wenn Du traurig bist.
Aber das ist nur die halbe Wahrheit...
Ein wahrer Freund ist ein Mensch,
der da ist wen Du in Not bist
der da ist wenn Du Dich freust
der Dir hilft wenn's Dir schlecht geht UND
der sich mit Dir freut wenn's Dir gut geht;
der Dich tröstet wenn Du traurig bist UND
der mit Dir lacht wenn Du glücklich bist.
All das macht einen wahren Freund aus.
Er ist IMMER da...
