Okay-Falco
Whenever Young Romans Get Into The Groove
Jeanny from the Block
J. Lopez
Funky Kommissar
Temperature Calling 2008
Beilage der CD, war sogar ein DOC File dabei.
DJ SCHMOLLI’s own words on “FALCO RE:LOADED”
Mash Me Amadeus
Falco superstar! “Amadeus” is number one in the states, the U.K. as well as in many other countries around the globe. Austria’s number one pop export of the 80’s, what more appropriate than mixing it with “#1” by U.S. rapper Nelly. And “I Got 5 On It” that “Rock Me Amadeus” will remain the best known Austrian pop song ever. This mashup contains a lot of other samples & bits from various artists, so I guess it’s almost a monster-mashup!
Temperature Calling 2008
In summer 2006 I made my first Falco mashup “Temperature Calling”. Back then there were two versions available. I decided to re-record the version without Madonna, I wanted to equal the production level of the album. This is a simple a+b mashup, for entertainment in the first place!
Funky Kommissar
New York’s pioneer of Electro, Hip Hop & Funk Afrika Bambaataa has been quite supportive during the early stage of Falco’s U.S. career. Knowing that I had to use one of his songs in combination with “Der Kommissar”, Falco’s first international success. When it comes to “old school” nowadays the Wu-Tang Clan is surely one group to be named. So this tune features two of rap music’s most influential artists, just like Falco has been influential on many rappers.
The Superstitious Sound Of The Next Episode
Musik, musique, music… no other language is more universal. Black music has been pretty influential on Falco’s musical creations so I decided to mix mainly black artists from various genres like R n’ B, Hip Hop & Soul into this track.
Whenever Crazy Romans Get Into The Groove
This has been the last track I did for “Falco re:loaded”. Luckily I found out that Shakira’s vocals fit so nicely over the chord progression of “Junge Römer (Young Romans)”. Beyonce’s vocals didn’t match as great so I had to do some tricks with a vocoder & filters. Also a fun fact is that Falco sings about “Young Romans are dancing differently…”, which fits nice when you hear Italian rooted Madonna sing “Get Into The Groove…”.
Jeanny From The Block
Falco’s most controversial single release has been banned on various TV & radio stations in 1986. Together with J-Lo the lyrical content is a bit more moderate, this time it’s all about “Jeanny From The Block”.
Papa Was Thunderstrucked On The Run
Internationally called “On The Run” this track has a great straight forward beat which fitted perfectly for some AC/DC rock vocals. Nevertheless I added some classic Temptations for that extra bit of soul music.
Feuer (Exodus Out Of The Dark)
There’s gotta be at least one track with German lyrics so I choose Jan Delay’s “Feuer” which has been a recent hit in Austria & Germany. I also added bits of Bob Marley and David Guetta, hopefully the lyrical message comes along.
Do It Again And Again And Again
The last track on the ‘88 album „Wiener Blut“ is a cover version of Steely Dan’s classic „Do It Again”. I mixed it up with several songs of the same title and a short bit of the original track hopefully making you wanna listen again and again. Technically this has been really interesting, it uses filters & various track layers etc.
Okay Falco
O.K. had a huge hit in central Europe with “Okay!” back in 1988. The special thing about this single was that it contained various speeches and excerpts of TV shows rather than verse parts. I kept the chorus parts and added some of Falco’s best known interview sequences. The last words are spoken by Ferdi Bolland, one of Falco’s producers. It almost seems that he is speaking about this album…
