John Peel (* 30. August 1939 in Heswall, Großbritannien; † 25. Oktober 2004 in Cuzco, Peru; bürgerlich John Robert Parker Ravenscroft OBE) war ein britischer Radio-Moderator und DJ. Bei BBC Radio 1 von 1967 bis zu seinem Tode 2004 tätig, war er dort der dienstälteste DJ.

Am 14. August 1967 lief „John Peel’s Perfumed Garden“ zum letzten Mal auf Wonderful Radio London (Big L) – schon einen Tag später wurden Piratensender durch den „Marine Offences Act“ offiziell verboten.

Man muss die Sendung im Netz suchen um den Download zu finden, man braucht aber noch ein Programm für den Datenaustausch, sind aber über 300 MB.

Das sind ja tolle Nachrichten, ein Traum!!!

Ein Traum vieler Musikliebhaber dürfte Anfang 2009 wahr werden: Die BBC will ihr Musikarchiv kostenlos zum Abruf bereitstellen. Mehr als 50.000 Songs warten auf die Digitalisierung.

Nicht nur die John Peel Sessions, auch der Old Grey Whistle Test wo nur Alben vorgestellt wurden.

Warum gibt es solche Sendung eigentlich nicht mehr?
