i am using epsxe with D3D render (pete's D3D plug-in doesnt get me pass the naming screen for Serge). epsxe default sound, and chrono cross ISO file with P4U patch. i cant start the game, but it's running too fast. its so fast that i can't read all the dialogue, can't see how much damage i am dealing and the music is fast too? another problem is, when i try to use "element", the game freezes up.

does anyone know what i can do to fix this? thanks for anyone's help. would be greatly appreciated.

my system is:
1.6GHz P4
Win 2000
320 MBRAM
ATI 7200 64DDR ( i think)
sound blaster 128bit
120GB HDD

a) enable "frame limitation", set the framerate to "auto" or "60" (NTSC) or "50" (PAL)
b) use the "odd/even bit hack" game fix with CC

found these solution on another board:

Use epsxe 1.5.2
remember to have the Odd/Even Bit Hack on in Special Game Fixes.

or

if using epsxe 1.6 in epxe executor use the command line boc and add -noauto

or

go to start menu and run option
then type c: \ epsxe directory\ epsxe.exe -noauto

----------

When I did this, Windows XP put "" around the path to epsxe and this would not work until I put the -noauto outside of the "". In other words:

"c: \ epsxe directory\ epsxe.exe" -noauto

Then it worked fine and I was able to use elements without the game freezing.

Don't use Epsxe 1.60 for CC. It might work for a while but you'll end up having problems later on(even with the no-auto command). Switch to Epsxe 1.5.2 and use Pete's OGL 1.7.5 with the following settings:
Plugin: Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.1.75
Author: Pete Bernert
Card vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
GFX card: GeForce FX 5600/AGP/SSE/3DNOW!

Resolution/Color:
- 640x480 Fullscreen - NO desktop changing [32 Bit]
- Keep psx aspect ratio: off

Textures:
- R8G8B8A8
- Filtering: 4
- Hi-Res textures: 0
- VRam size: 256 MBytes

Framerate:
- FPS limitation: on
- Frame skipping: off
- FPS limit: 60

Compatibility:
- Offscreen drawing: 3
- Framebuffer texture: 0
- Framebuffer access: 1
- Alpha multipass: on
- Mask bit: on
- Advanced blending: off

Misc:
- Scanlines: off
- Line mode: off
- Unfiltered FB: off
- 15 bit FB: off
- Dithering: off
- Screen smoothing: off
- Screen cushion: off
- Game fixes: on [00001000]

Also set AA to either 4x or 8x on your gfx card itself and it will look just as good as the OGL 2.5 would(better IMHO since 2.5 can't use AA from your gfx card).
With these settings elements slowing down the menu are no more.
