Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center Launches Antisemitism Curriculum
Developed for Grade 10 Students in Compliance with Ontario Ministry of Education Guidelines

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 19, 2008) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies (FSWC) today announced it is unveiling a new curriculum for confronting antisemitism in Canada and beyond. Titled "Antisemitism in the Past and the Present", this series of interdisciplinary lessons for Grade 10 English, Dramatic Arts, Civics and Canadian History was developed by and for teachers, and is fully compliant with Ontario Ministry of Education guidelines.

The new curriculum is a part of FSWC's new Tools to Teach Certification Program. It is designed to assist teachers in introducing the topic of antisemitism, and aid students in understanding what it is and how to identify it.

"Antisemitism remains a problem in Canada and, up until now, educating students about this dangerous form of racism has been challenging for teachers due to the lack of available resources and viable information," said Avi Benlolo, President and CEO of FSWC. "We compiled this factual and reliable curriculum package to ensure educators across Ontario have everything they need to integrate the topic of antisemitism into their Grade 10 classrooms. It is our hope and aspiration that this curriculum will be one of the many catalysts and resources used to stamp out antisemitism and all forms of racism and intolerance."

FSWC's new antisemitism curriculum serves as an adjunct to the professional development workshops and lectures hosted in its state-of-the-art Resource and Leadership Training Center on topics that include tolerance, diversity, the Holocaust and terrorism. Many of the workshops offered by FSWC are tailored to educators and run by experts in their field.
