Die Kunst des Schablonen- Sprays aka STENCIL aka POCHOIR beherrscht bestens ja auch Unser Mann vom Net- Libellenden Rosenweg . Der Werte Herr Christian nämlich , welcher sämtliche POCHETTEN seiner BROQUE- Produktionen in genannter Manier verziert . Und - TUSCH - TUSCH - TUSCH - wurde eben Release Numero 036 vom Stapel ( der Rosen ) gelassen und : STAUN , TRAU , WOW ! : Da macht der MultiMultiMulti- Musician NILS HOFFMANN ( HH ) so ziemlich alle KURZ UND KLEIN , was musikalisch Rang und Namen hat . Als tobe ein zeitgenössischer Karl Valentin im aufdatierten Schallplattenladen herum , wird be- und zerstückt , was das Musik- Zeug so herhält : Shellacks und Break Beats, Salonfidel meets Trip Hop , träge Nachmittage in fensterlosen Bars , betäubender *hüstel*- Plüsch ( nicht draufhauen : Staub ! ) , Spiegelungen im ausgekippten Martini auf dem Tresen … oder war’s doch die Grüne Fee ? - INTOXICATING , zugleich lupenrein , wie schmutzige Bluese , ranzige Klarinetten und brusthaarfreie Diskos hier herumlungern . Stilechte knapp- nach- Stimmbruch- SHALALAs , POP IM KOPP , mit “Durst” und “Currywurst” mitten durch . Zum himmlichen Finish ( höchstlöblich cölestisches Stottern ) trippeln itzo die Jazz- Guitar- Springsel heran und ein achtbarer Funk lässt seine Krallenspitzen aus den Fellpfoten blitzen . Schellackbeats, Swing ‘n’ Breaks oder auch Swing ‘n’ House - Samples von alten Swing Platten geschickt arrangiert und mit Beats aus dem Sequenzer neu zusammen gesetzt. Diesen Mashup-Sound habe ich dieses Jahr auf dem Fusion Festival das erste mal gehört.

Auf dem Netlabel Broque hat nun der in Hamburg lebende “Tausendsassa- Vollblutmusiker” Nils Hoffmann eine EP veröffentlicht, bei der er mit diesen Swingsamples experimentiert.
Während Cry Swing eher elektronisch verspielt daher kommt, taugt der Titel Sweet Man Like Me mit bouncendem Beat um die 95 BPM auch durchaus für den Einsatz auf der Tanzfläche.
Für Goodbye Glamour hat Nils Hoffmann, der zahlreiche Instrumente beherrscht und schon als Konzertmeister arbeitete wohl selbst zum Mikrofon gegriffen. Zuzutrauen ist es ihm allemal, sang er doch schon Tenor und Bass.
Bleibt noch Why Don’t You Disko, einem coolen Minimal Track für die Liebhaber straighter Beats, sowie der Titel Popmusik, der mit seinem lustigen Text an Andreas Dorau erinnert.

Unterm Strich ist die kurz und klein e.p. von Nils Hoffmann ein herrlich verspieltes und humorvolles Netaudio Release, das auch nach mehrmaligem Hören noch richtig Spaß macht.

Es ist soweit, mein erstes Netaudio Mixtape ist fertig!
Aus insgesamt 32 Trip-Hop, Downbeat, Hip-Hop und Dub Tracks wurde das Urban Netaudio Mitxtape Vol.1 mit stolzen 86 Minuten.

Für "kurz und klein e.p." staubte Nils Hoffmann alte Swing-Schellack-Platten ab. Anschließend schnippelte er sie auseinander, um im letzten Schritt kunstvolle Swing House- und jazzigen Downbeat-Musik zu produzieren. Das der Schalk dem Broque-Künstler im Nacken sitzt, beweist nicht nur sein satirischer Song "Popmusik".

"Nur Pop im Kopp!", singt Nils Hoffmann in seinem Schlager-Techno-Pop-Song und wir amüsieren uns köstlich über die Persiflage. Zwar passt der Song mit seiner synthetischen Ästhetik so gar nicht zu den restlichen Musikstücken auf dem sonst Swing-orientierten Album. Das ist aber so etwas von egal, denn die Satire ist klasse.

Alle anderen Tracks - insbesondere "Sweet like me" und "Goodbye glamour" - liefern uns ein Sample-Feuerwerk aus collagierten Swing-Samples und Loops. Schön garniert werden die Downbeats mit Gesang und eingängigen Refrains. Wunderbares Release.

Swinging Downbeats | Cool yourself down with some jazzy downbeats full of swing. To get the flavour right Nils Hoffmann polished his old shellac records. Then cut them up to combine the music-samples in a last step to create five tasty and well tempered tracks.

If you enjoy some crunchy and luscious songs, the “kurz und klein e.p.” delivered you by Broque Netlabel will excite you. With “Sweet like me” and “Goodbye glamour” we dive into a world full of cut&paste-swing. The producer combines accurate collaged samples and loops plus a good portion of electronic sounds. On top he sprinkled nice vocal-hooklines. DJs will prefer the more upfront production “Why dont you disco” with a deep bassline and a techno-orientated attitude.

In the end we listen to amazing songs somewhere between swing-house and jazzy downbeats. An amazing pop-driven release with delicious hooks and melodies. Yeeeee!

For german listeners: Auch wenn der Song “Popmusik” vollkommen aus dem Rahmen der EP fällt, so amüsiert man sich herzlich über den Refrain samt Reime. Der Song hätte auch von Andreas Dorau stammen können.

oh yeah, this was a great little release! reminds me a bit of the ‘Welcome Wilderness’ release that was featured earlier — cutup samplejazz! yay!

This episode features 10 artists new to this podcast series. It starts out with a "Cafe del Mar"-type vibe, with Solar Sound Network's "800 Jahre Dresden." Then we get a little more intense with Peresvet's "Sy(Part 2)," on the Vorbic netlabel. Following that is Mr. Moods, with "Sensuality," from his release on the Dirtybird Rexx netabel. Another artist from the Vorbic netlabel, Traum:Welt, offers the deeply electronic "And So Do I."

Moving into a little world fusion, we chill out to Samovar Tea Lounge (the same name as the tea lounge in San Francisco), with "Rumah Dunia." This comes from the label Beatpick in the UK, and you can buy it there. (Note: similar to Magnatune, 50% of the sale goes directly to the artist.)

Next comes Monophobic, another Dirtybird Rexx netlabel artist, followed by Lush Logic (more goodness from Beatpick), followed by a fun track, "The Land of the Midnight Sun," from the Slowdowns (Dirtybird Rexx). Then we go into a retro swing/beat-infused track, "Sweet Man Like Me," from Nils Hoffmann, on the Broque netlabel, and we wrap up with Granlab's "Abendläuten," from a compilation called "Spaetsommerkollection," also on broque.de.

Willkommen auf Net-Label.info

Obwohl es weltweit inzwischen über 700 Labels gibt, die ihren musikalischen Output seit Jahren rein digital im Internet vertreiben und auf klassische Tonträger verzichten, tauchen diese und deren Künstler in herkömmlichen Medien so gut wie nirgends auf.

Net-Label.info will einen Einstieg bieten in die Weiten des Webs, zeigen wo man heutzutage kostenlos und legal (!) hörenswerte und gut produzierte Musik zum Download bekommen kann.
