Hi.

Sorry if it was a topic already, but I gotta share this with everyone. I had loads of problems with the D3D plugins under Vista, and OpenGL(2) plugin was way to slow on my ATI card.

Solution: Give the size of memory at plugin settings, it finally works perfectly! Gosh, ATI, why can't the drivers report the memory size well?

Good luck to all,

Z

This is a very well known problem. For me it happened even with nvidia cards. Setting vram size to 0 does not always mean autodetection. It can be really 0. So I recommend to always set vram size manually, especially for new cards like 9800GX2.

Nvidia auto detection still works fine, only ATI has detection problems. its been an issue for years, but hasn't effected all drivers

Be careful with NVIDIA MultiGPU cards and cards in SLI mode - may detect only half of real memory!

I wonder...

The limit for this on OGL2 is 512Mb, and for OGL1 is 256 Mb. If using a 512Mb GPU on OGL1... would be better 256Mb or 0 ? .. and if using a 512+ Mb GPU with OGL2 ?...

I have GeForce 9800 GX2 with 2 GPU's with 512 MB each. I really doubt 0 (autodetect) will work properly here.

As for >512 Mb usage - is it really needed? I doubt even highest internal resolution with 2xSAL enabled consumes so much.

Was not about need. So, the highest available setting would be better than auto...

Maybe this selection method should be manual like the manual fps limit?

Maybe Internal resolutions [6,6] will be available in the future? =P

the more memory, the more framebuffer effects can be processed at a time, resulting in less slowdown when alot of effects occur on screen at a time.
