I want to upgrade and make my cannon, more reliable and do the barrel extension mod. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement airsoft barrel that fits the firing mechanism and will be longer for the barrel mod? Also what can be done to the airsoft mechanism to make it better. I heard about putting in a stronger spring, but Where do I get that from?

Hallo again,

the power of the KWK is obviously different from model to model ...

My first Tiger was shooting "so lala" ...

My second one has shot through a normal Din A 4 page of paper from a distance of 3 meter !

Take care if you put a stronger spring inside because the rest of the mechanism has to "hold" this power ...

Maybe a better way would be to buy a little airsoft pistole to put the mechanism of this inside the Tiger.

I tore down my new panther last night to see what was wrong with the airsoft gun. The little rubber seal that goes in the breach had gotten cockeyed, and a small crack was noted in the breach block. Be careful taking the gun apart as the compression spring is suprisingly powerful. I was expecting it to be wimpy but it was not bad. So I put all the tank back together last night finishing at 4am!!!
everything worked again except the airsoft gun, this time nothing happens when I activate it. I think I may have pulled a wire loose, so I'll have to go in again!
If you need to get to the airsoft gun, you literally have to compleatly disemble the entire tank.

The gun assembly seems pretty fragle I don't think I'll try to add a harder spring, would probably crack the entire gun housing or burn out the motor.
The best bet would be to use some sheet aluminum and make a scratch built gun gearbox, then add metal gears, and a more powerful motor.

The inner barrel for the gun is very simple, and despite what the manual says, there is NO HOPUP on this gun. On the panther the gun needs so much work to be lengthend and thinner that I'm most likely going to just turn a barrel on my lathe. iT is just a smooth bore 6.2mm so i'll likely just turn the entire thing, then only use the muzzle brake. I picked up a 3ft section of 1/2" Aluminum rod stock today, for this purpose.

be carefull if you look at the mechanism:




It is also nessesary for an impressing shot-quality, that the mechanism inside, is realy clean and has got enough oil or sth. similar !

The gum between the Alu and the mechanism has "sit" exactly - especially if you lenght the KWK !

I think it should also be possible to take a gun that has got a gas-system and not a spring !

At least all people advise to take good bb´s (maybe alu) !

Stern, one other thing I was thinking was to make a new piston, and maybe a new breach with a tighter tolerance so you wouldn't need a rubber seal, both would be easier to do, since they are both pretty simple. only problem with a gas system would be the gas tank, in a turret this small, you would problably need to use a C02 powerlet. they don't last for many shots so an access panel would need to but made in the turret to change it out. I would suggest buying a cheap C02 airsoft gun and gutting it for the system, instead of trying to adapt the one already there. I think it will be on on going thing. I kind of like it actually firing a projectile, but you may be able to have fun with a combat system probably inferared like Zardoz seems planning.

If you want to have more power,install a Softair Gearbox and take bb´s with more weight. It shoots with round about 265fps.

PanzerParker, have you done this to yours? I was looking at Redwolf a few weeks ago, but they look like they make products for the hardcore guys that are heavy into simulation. That and I don't see how you would change the cocking/firing mechanism to work with just a small motor.

I think I am going to spec everything out when I take my tank apart. It is making a grinding noise when I try to turn and have already ordered a metal gear set to replace it. When I have it apart I will check my gun mechanism and check the I.D> of the gun barrel.

"Jackkaa" from this forum is selling specially turned aluminium rods (done on a lathe I presume). I have bought 3 off him, one of which I hope to fit to my first Tiger this weekend.

If all he is selling is a turned aluminum tube that is polished I might be better off trying to get that done here in the states due to the price of shipping (and potential for damage to the tubes). Thanks for the heads up.


I also found a UK site that has the barrel extension. I just wonder how that might affect the operation of the airsoft cannon. If the barrel is longer I think the airsoft barrel probably needs to be lengthened as well.....could be just me though.

Yes, "Jackkaa" (do a search in "Mitglieder" = members) is selling a tube of the correct OD bored out to the correct ID - although only quality BBs should be used, not the HL-supplied ones.

Ahem, it's not "polished" at all, very much a backyard-shed item at a backyard-shed price. He hadn't put in any packing at all or bubble-wrap, but luckily they made it to the UK okay. Perhaps a trip across the pond might not go so well....

If you have a friend with a lathe then that's probably the way to go for the price of a beer or two?

PS As for the barrel extension I just looked around my house and other people's houses till I found a ballpoint pen of the correct OD and ID to fit! I eventually found one to suit the Tiger perfectly at my mum's (mom's - to you!)

PPS If I get time, I'll be putting all the bits together this weekend!
