It has been reported that Warner Brother Films will be creating the motion picture of the late singer and actress Aaliyah who died in a plane crash in 2001. Aaliyah sold more than 32 million albums worldwide before her career was cut short. The film will be a biopic of the singers life. Bill Condon, director of "DreamGirls" will be directing the film.


"We are going to great extremities to make this movie perfect. We have Chante in extensive training studying, speaking with family members, watching personal footage and in choreography training with Aaliyah's choreographer and dear friend Fatima Robinson. This movie will be seamless the same way it was for Selena fans who enjoyed Jennifer Lopez. I can promise Aaliyah fans that this movie will be ten notches higher."


A source for the film reveals that they "will be going very deep into Aaliyah's life" and will allow fans to see the "most intimate side of Aaliyah's legacy." Sources say the script for the film 'holds no bars' and will go as far as touching on the subject of Aaliyah's highly debated and publicized marriage and annulment to producer R.Kelly.


"This movie will showcase Aaliyah in a new light. Fans will be so proud of this piece" says Condon.


Canadian singer Keshia Chante on playing the role, "Aaliyah inspired me and an entire generation. She was stunning, effortless and was capable of so many things. This is a hard undertaking, I have big shoes to fill but I am committed, determined and will train to the very end to master this role. I want Aaliyah's fans and admirers to be proud of this film and feel like it was the best interpretation possible of our babygirl. I refuse to disappoint."


Chante's acting resume is new, only now getting the lead role in a new television series entitled "Soul" that she shot only but a few months ago up north. Condon assures us that Chante was best for the role, stating "She was born ready for this role. I knew she was the one the moment she stepped into our audition.

It has also been confirmed that Aaliyah's closet colleagues will be featured in the film. Her choreographer Fatima Robinson; producer and friends: Timbaland, Missy Elliot, Ginuwine, even world renowned music video director Hype Williams will be apart of the film and will help re-create the "Rock The Boat" video set which was the last video Aaliyah ever shot. The movie is tentative to start production end of March and is rumored to have a production budget of over 80 million dollars.




Aaliyah's official Myspace music page has received 18,262,062 plays and 10,437,315 views as of December 4, 2008. As of 2008 Aaliyah holds the record for best selling R&B album by a female in 2000s decade with 12 million physical copies of her album "Aaliyah" sold plus 1 million downloads for a total of 13 million copies in sales.


In addition to that, a new album is in the works with all unreleased material and featuring new collaborations with Janet Jackson, D'Angelo, Brandy, P. Diddy, Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Monica, Beyoncé, Wyclef Jean, Static Major, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, Christina Aguilera, 702, Lil' Kim, Justin Timberlake, Tank, Mary J. Blige, Mýa, Jay-Z, Tyrese, Ginuwine, Usher, Ne-Yo & many others. The new album is currently expected to be released in March 2009. The producers on the album so far will be Timbaland, Missy Elliott, Wyclef Jean, Danja, P. Diddy, Trent Reznor, & Stargate.

Es ist zwar NOCH nicht offiziell,aber man merkt schon, wie dieses Gerücht an immer mehr Leute gerät.
Deswegen glaube ich,dass es schon sehr bald offiziell sein wird!!!
P.S.:Der Song ist echt geil!!!
Wäre aber natürlich besser gewesen,wenn Aaliyah den Song gesungen hätte!!!

ja ich glaub irgendwie auch dran

glaubt ihr der film wird auch in den deutschen kinos zu sehn sein?!

aber naja, das des album im märz erscheinen soll,
daran glaub ich irgendwie ned...
a neues album wird sicherlich irgendwann erscheinen
aber mhmm

naja, wir können immer nur abwarten und hoffen
