A Second Face
- The Eye of Geltz is watching us -

In the infinity of space there is a planet with two faces turning around an old, white sun to which it always shows the same side. The other is enveloped in total darkness.

On each face life has developed in a different way. The bright side is inhabited by people who call themselves Strefis, the illuminated ones, while the dark side is populated by the Ugeltz, the people of night.

No Ugeltz has ever seen a Strefis however each civilisation remembers the other, in legends.

Hey guys,

I received an email from Le_Woltaire, I've seen of pure chance, because that email account no longer use. About this, I would like to know how you found this direction

As you suspected, I have translated the Cosmos Quest series for the friend Kinanev.
I downloaded your game and I'll try as soon as possible.
At first, I think your proposal very interesting, but first I want to play the game and see that it is.

I'm currently translating into spanish the game "Nippon Safes, Inc.", therefore, I have to manage my time well.
Can you anticipate if the game has many lines of text?

bye

PD: I can't change my account password

Hi cireja and welcome to my small community...

I played Kinanevs games and since they are all full lenght games I wondered who the guy is, that translates so many games into Spanish.

I think that this is a really nice gesture, because Spanish is the second most talked language in the world, and nobody really recognizes that English can't be understood by everyone...

So I simply went to the cosmos Quest homepage and got your real name and your nickname. I googled for an email adress and your old adress with a photo of you appeared at geocities, where I got an email...

http://es.geocities.com/margasanlucar/f … o_Pozo.htm

I am trying to find someone who translates this into Spanish already for about two months...

What I can tell you about the game is, that it is very long and that a translation is related to about 4000 lines of translation work (80 Pages). But on the other side the game has been reviewed positively for now, and it was just nominated for 15 AGS awards...

I would be really happy, if you could play the game.
If you don't have much time, a walkthrough can be found here: http://gamesolutions.efzeven.nl/a-secon … taire2008/

If you decide to translate the game, you would have all the time you need. I could try to find a partner so that the work get's split into two parts...

Many Spanish players wait for this release, so your help would be a great gesture towards the Spanish game underground...

PS: It should be possible to change the password, by clicking on "Profile", scrolling down to the bottom and typing twice your new password in the fields (Your actual password doesn't have to be repeated). I just tried it for me, if this doesn't work, please tell me...

Hi again,

I've played the game, and to the end. I'm not very sure about my impressions about it.
When I say "to the end", I mean that I have been hard to finish it. I found it very difficult, because of the situations where I had to enter text. I don't understand why you have implemented these actions with an input text. I prefer the classic lines of text you can click.

I say all this because every time I had to introduce a text I had no idea that putting word. Even reviewing the guide, I was very difficult to know which word was appropriate. Luckily, I discovered that I could quit using the word "bye", ufff.
I think because of this, the game loses much dynamism.

I hope not to be too honest and that my comments bother you. Forgetting that small detail, I think the game is extraordinary. Everything is perfect, I love the history, the environment, the details, dubbing...

About the translation, I am not very sure. I am currently working on a translation and I have several pending. But I do not want to say no, just that I keep thinking.

However, if you change the detail of entering text, the game I would love more and I would be willing to do this work before others. I know that I'm nobody to tell you to do, but you understand that time is gold and I prefer to work with games that I like very much.

I hope I have spelled correctly and you understand me. It's not the same read and understand english that to have to speak in english

We remain in contact

Hm...
It's a pitty, that you didn't like the textbox...
People have mixed feelings about it. About 75% found it an interesting and flexible addition to contemporary gaming, because of it's open conversation style. The other 25% found it difficult to handle and uncomfortable to use.

What I never liked about the given lines in the Lucasarts games was, that you always ended in clicking all of them until there were nomore left. When you clicked on them, the player character repeated always what I had already read.

I wanted to invent something more open and flexible, that maybe can surprise and also be an individual part of a personal game style. I am now no longer able to change this programmation, because it would mean a complete changement of 50% of the game rooms...

The current textbox understands about 1000 words in English and German. If there would be a Spanish translation, it would be possible to insert Spanish words. Maybe in your case it was also a bit of a difficulty that it wasn't possible to insert words in your own language... For example it would be possible to leave the dialogues with words like "adios" and talk in Spanish. This could change the feeling for native speakers...

How about if you give me permission to create a thread in the forum Beta Testing?
I have some questions of context and I think this is the right place.

Dear Friends of the Spectral Adventures.
Since "A Second Face" got 15 AGS Award nominations, Brafok and Torg decided to start a modest election campaign and need your help!

EDIT: The voting was closed yesterday. Thanks to all people who supported the game in last minute...

So, for all those, who didn't get the news:

A Second Face is currently being translated into Spanish, Turkish, Portuguese and Italian.
Here is a list of the brave translators who didn't shy away from the 10000 line script:

Paolo (Italian)
Cireja (Spanish)
Alexandre (Portuguese)
Nilgün (Turkish)

If there are any french, japanese, russian, polish, and arabic guys around who would like to give a translation a go, just feel free to PM me or write me a email.

I recieved a bit of a strange message form Joel (foxyfox555) from the French AGS forum. He asked me if he could translate my games into French.

Although I am not sure, if this was meant seriously, I sent him the translation source and am now hoping for a French translation!
